Sparke Helmore Sparks Insurance Legal Talent Raid

July 2, 2018 by LawFuel Editors Leave a Comment

A major move of legal talent has occurred in Australia with Sparke Helmore taking on 32 lawyers from Curwoods Lawyers.

A release from Sparke Helmore indicated that

The reports earlier were that four insurance partners were moving to Sparke Helmore immediately prior to the merger between Curwoods and McCables Lawyers. But the full contingent making the move appears to now be four partners, two special counsel and 25 lawyers – virtually the entire insurance practice from the former firm.

The four Partners—Kiley Hodges, Ian Jones, Renee Sadler and Matthew Seisun—are experienced insurance lawyers.

And Sparkes haven’t finished according to managing partner Phillip Salem.

“The addition of these 32 individuals to our commercial insurance practice is yet another significant step in enhancing the legal expertise we provide to our insurance clients nationally,” he said.

“With these high-calibre hires, we enhance our standing as one of the largest insurance law practices in Australia.”

“And we haven’t finished – we have a relentless focus on acquiring the best available in the market to ensure we continue to exceed our clients’ expectations,” he said.

“We know that to provide the full service insurance offering that many domestic insurers value, it’s crucial to have strong financial lines, CTP liability, construction and professional indemnity practices.  With the addition of this team, we have that. In fact, with these high-calibre hires, we enhance our standing as one of the largest insurance law practices in Australia”.
