Washington DC, 21 April 2015 – LawFuel Mayer Brown announced today that Andrew Young has joined the firm’s Banking & Finance practice and global Energy group as a partner in Washington DC. Previously, he was a partner with K&L Gates.
“Andrew is well-known for his deep experience in providing energy regulatory advice to companies in the US electric power space in a wide range of financial and corporate transactions, particularly on project finance matters,” said Doug Doetsch, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Banking & Finance practice. “Andrew’s knowledge will further diversify the offerings of Mayer Brown’s global Energy group and strengthen our position in advising on US electric power-related transactions and projects.”
Mr. Young concentrates his practice on issues related to the energy industry. He represents electric utilities, transmission providers, independent power producers, power marketers, qualifying facilities, public utility holding companies, industrial consumers, and debt and equity investors in a wide variety of matters. He has an impressive background in mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs and restructurings, the development and re-design of Regional Transmission Organization markets, transmission rates, incentives and policies, ancillary services, interconnection procedures and agreements, market-based and cost-based rates, administrative hearings, trial and appellate litigation, and state and federal regulatory issues.
Mr. Young has significant experience with renewable energy projects of all types, including solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydroelectric, and energy storage projects. He is experienced in representing clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the Securities and Exchange Commission, state public utility commissions, and federal district and appellate courts.

Mr. Young earned a JD from Harvard Law School, cum laude, and received MA and BA degrees from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Energy Bar Association and an active participant in the Northwest & Intermountain Power Producers Coalition.
