Christmas Trees Get the "Meisels" From Hot Headed Attorney

Poisoning Christmas trees may not be the crime of the century, but for wealthy New York attorney Elliott Meisel it displays a certain hot headedness that has come to characterise his actions when the occasion may not require it.

Elliott Meisel, a partner in a New York real estate law firm, drove to a Christmas tree farm in Sagaponack, New York, and warned workers he was going to ‘get a farm truck and run down all the f****** trees’, a police report said.

According to a police report, the wealthy Meisel, who’s also chairman of the Sagaponack Zoning Board of Appeals, unexpectedly drove up to the property at 451 Daniels Lane on May 16 and told workers there that planting hedges and trees was illegal.

According to the report, “He claimed he knows it is illegal because he wrote the law as part of the Sagaponack zoning board . . . he then stated ‘he would get a farm truck and run down all the f - - king trees.’ ‘Poison them’ or ‘burn them all.’ Then he returned to his small green Toyota SUV and drove off.”

Page Six reported last week that Hamptonites were bristling over the Yule tree farm, which local officials believe Goldman planted in retaliation for them rejecting his plans to build a 12,000-square-foot home on the property.

Goldman insists he’s always wanted to farm the land. Meisel told Page Six of the account of his latest East End eruption, “That is not an accurate statement, I am surprised they made a police report. I did encounter an individual and tell them the planting was illegal, and I did say that someone would mow the trees down or poison them, but I didn’t say I would personally do it. I am glad everyone is so concerned about my attempts to protect the environment.”
