Orrick Elevates Hong Kong Capital Markets Duo to Partnership

 

Hong Kong, October 12, 2015 – LawFuel.com  – Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe is pleased to announce the promotion of two senior members of its Capital Markets group in Hong Kong to partnership.

June Chan, who has been with the firm since 2005, focuses on the representation of Chinese issuers in initial public offerings (IPOs) and other capital markets transactions. She is particularly experienced representing red chip and H share companies in their Hong Kong IPOs. She also advises listed issuers on general compliance and other corporate transactions. Louise Liu, who joined the firm in 2009, focuses on Rule 144A/Regulation S international securities offerings as well as U.S. IPOs and listings by Chinese issuers and related compliance matters. She also advises investors and companies in venture capital financings, private equity and strategic investments.

Orrick has advised on more than 35 Hong Kong IPOs raising over US$5 billion since 2010, ranking it among the top five firms in the market.

June has advised numerous leading Chinese companies on IPOs on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK), such as Biostime International Holdings Limited, a leading player in premium pediatric nutrition and baby-care products in China, and Hengtai Securities Co., Ltd., the largest brokerage in Inner Mongolia, in their Hong Kong IPOs. She is particularly experienced in advising on IPOs by consumer/retail products companies, such as Xtep International Holdings Limited, Fuguiniao Co., Ltd. and Cabbeen Fashion Limited. She also worked on the first dual primary listing in Hong Kong by a Singapore-incorporated and Singapore-listed company (China XLX Fertilizer Limited). June obtained her LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) and PCLL (Postgraduate Certificate in Laws) at The University of Hong Kong in 1999 and 2000 respectively, and qualified to practice law in Hong Kong in 2002.

Louise has advised issuers and underwriters in a wide range of capital market transactions, including representing Cabbeen Fashion Limited in its IPO on the Main Board of the SEHK with a concurrent international placement underwritten by BofA Merrill Lynch and CCB International, ICBC International and Deutsche Bank as joint global coordinators in the US$205.6 million IPO of West China Cement Limited on the Main Board of the SEHK with a concurrent Rule 144A/Regulation S international placement, Merrill Lynch and Citi as joint bookrunners in the IPO and NYSE listing of VanceInfo Technologies Inc., and Morgan Stanley and UBS as joint bookrunners in the US$469 million IPO and NYSE listing of LDK Solar Co., Ltd. Louise also represented issuers and underwriters in several U.S. IPOs and listings on Nasdaq by companies in the technology, pharmaceutical and other sectors. Louise received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1999 and is admitted in New York.

In the last twelve months, Orrick has promoted Connie Cheung (M&A and private equity) in Hong Kong to partnership, added new partners Ning Zhang (M&A, private equity and capital markets) andYa-Chiao Chang (intellectual property) in Beijing, and Ethan Ma (intellectual property) in Shanghai, and promoted Roger Zhou (capital markets) and Janie Wong (litigation) to of counsel in Beijing and Hong Kong, respectively.
