Skadden represented American Express, which announced an agreement with Lianlian Group that will introduce, through Lianlian, American Express' digital payments platform — Serve — throughout China. American Express also has made an equity investment in Lianlian Pay Inc., an overseas company of Lianlian Group.
The agreement was announced on Jan. 18, 2012. Lianlian Group has served approximately 300 million mobile phone accounts. It operates a network of more than 300,000 small business agents across China where customers can pay for a range of products and services for their mobile phones, including mobile top-up minutes, virtual currency, bill pay and ticket purchase options.
