NEW YORK — February 8, 2010 — Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP is pleased to announce that Stuart Freedman has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Business Transactions Group in the New York office.
Mr. Freedman focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and securities. He has been the lead partner on some of the firm’s largest corporate transactions, including the acquisitions of Albertsons, Alamo/National and NewPage. Mr. Freedman represents well-known money managers in acquisitions, including those of companies engaged in financial restructurings. He also represents a number of leading investment firms in fund formation and other transactional work, with a particular focus on opportunities in distressed credit markets.
Mr. Freedman returns to SRZ after having served as president of a leading investment firm focusing on opportunistic investments globally. Mr. Freedman was a partner at SRZ for 20 years before leaving the firm in 2008.

Mr. Freedman received his J.D. in 1979 from University of Michigan Law School, where he was co-founder and editor of the Michigan Yearbook of International Legal Studies. He obtained his B.A., cum laude, from Yale University in 1976.
