TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi today praised the House of Representatives for passing the Controlled Substances Bill, House Bill 697. This legislative proposal would add six additional substances to Schedule I of controlled substances, making it a third-degree felony for an individual to “sell, manufacture, or deliver, or possess with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver” these dangerous drugs. Additionally, House Bill 697 adds three extremely lethal synthetic compounds, which are commonly found in the street drug “molly,” to the trafficking statute. House Bill 697 is sponsored by Representative Clay Ingram. The Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 780, is sponsored by Senator Rob Bradley.
“Synthetic drugs are dangerous and being marketed to our youth. I am grateful to Representative Clay Ingram and the entire House of Representatives for their support of a bill that will outlaw additional new synthetic drugs and protect Floridians,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
