1 April 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Ship finance specialists John Forrester, Ruth Allcoat and Adam Shire have joined Holman Fenwick & Willan (HFW) as a team in the firm’s ship finance department. John joined as a partner and his appointment brings to eight the number of partners specialising in ship finance in the firm’s London office. Ruth and Adam both joined as senior assistants. All three came to HFW from Stephenson Harwood (where John was a partner) and previously worked together at Sinclair Roche & Temperley (where John was also a partner) prior to its merger with Stephenson Harwood in 2002.
John Forrester and his colleagues have an established reputation in ship finance and are particularly renowned for acting for banks, export credit agencies and other lenders to the shipping and offshore industries. They include some of the world’s leading ship finance banks amongst their clients. Ruth Allcoat is also highly experienced in the construction, purchase and financing of super yachts. Her arrival boosts even further HFW’s existing super yacht practice (led by partners Jay Tooker and Elinor Dautlich) which is already a market leader in this field.
Roderic O’Sullivan, Senior Partner, says ‘As one of the world’s premier shipping firms, our aim is to develop the transactional side of our business so that we become recognised as a true leader in ship finance and other transactional maritime work. The recruitment of John and his colleagues is in line with this business strategy and enhances our transactional capability, particularly in banking and finance.’
