16 December – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – This afternoon, in United States District Court in Los Angeles, pursuant to a plea agreement with the government, Katrina Leung entered guilty pleas to two felony charges: making false statements to the FBI in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001, and subscribing to a false tax return in violation of 26 U.S.C. 7206(1). After Ms. Leung entered her guilty pleas, United States Attorney Debra Wong Yang stated:

“We are pleased that Ms. Leung has acknowledged criminal culpability related to her activities while employed as an intelligence asset by the FBI. As part of the plea agreement, Ms. Leung has agreed to further debriefings by the FBI, which we hope will assist in ensuring that any damage caused by her activities can be remedied. This case is the result of hard work by FBI investigators and prosecutors in my office who have done everything they could to bring Ms. Leung to justice. Ms. Leung’s guilty pleas render unnecessary the appeal previously filed by the government, and the government will now move to dismiss that appeal, which will bring this case to a conclusion.”
