9 May – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Laura Tuell Parcher, an attorney in Jones Day’s Complex Commercial and Multijurisdictional litigation practice, has been selected by the Washington D.C. Bar as the 2005 D.C. Bar Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. Laura began doing pro bono work as a summer associate in 1995 and has kept an active docket ever since. Last year, Laura served as lead plaintiffs’ counsel in a high profile lawsuit brought under the Fair Housing Act on behalf of the Equal Rights Center and three individual plaintiffs.

She was instrumental in establishing the D.C. Bar Free Legal Advice and Referral Clinic in 1996 and has spent countless hours volunteering at legal aid clinics, representing defendants on death row, serving on boards of directors for legal and community services organizations, and representing individuals in asylum hearings.
