Accomplished Financial Restructuring Lawyer is Latest Strategic Addition to Flourishing Bankruptcy Practice

(San Francisco) March 5, 2010 – DLA Piper announced today that Frank T. Pepler has joined the firm’s Restructuring practice as a partner in the San Francisco office.

Pepler joins DLA Piper from Pepler Mastromonaco, a boutique firm he co-founded in San Francisco in 2005 based on a long-term list of institutional lending clients he had represented for more than 20 years. He has experience in restructuring, commercial, finance, acquisition and sale, convertible debt and real estate finance transactions. Pepler currently represents banks, secured creditors and lessors in origination, restructuring and workout matters as well as in litigation. He has argued in published cases at the trial and appellate level on key issues of real estate foreclosure and bankruptcy matters. A significant part of his work is matters governed by the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), both in California and as adopted in other states.

“Frank has worked on a number of high-profile restructurings and recapitalization transactions in a wide range of industries, and is highly respected by clients for his high-level counsel and intricate knowledge of complex bankruptcy procedure and law,” said Stephen Cowan, managing partner of DLA Piper’s San Francisco office. “He is a tremendous asset to our clients in California and his addition bolsters an already strong national team. We welcome him to the firm.”

Pepler was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Hastings, where he structured and taught a course in Secured Transactions under the UCC. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1981, and his B.A. in 1978 from the University of Colorado 1978, with distinction and Phi Beta Kappa. He is active in State Bar activities, is a current member of the Insolvency Law Committee and a past member and chair of the Business Law Section Uniform Commercial Code Committee.
