BALTIMORE – LAWFUEL – Press Release Service – May 31, 2006 Paul W. Kim, Counsel and member of Ober|Kaler’s Health Law practice, has been elected President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Maryland, a chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Mr. Kim’s one-year term commences on June 1, 2006.

Recognizing that people with varying backgrounds and viewpoints enrich a society in general and the legal profession in particular, Mr. Kim hopes to work collaboratively with the surrounding APABA chapters and all specialty and minority bar associations in Maryland. “By working together, each organization will realize efficiencies in their respective efforts to increase visibility, raise critical funds, foster diversity in the legal community, and enhance awareness of the legal issues affecting minorities in Maryland.” Mr. Kim said. He also expressed his commitment to increase the presence of APABA-MD by reaching out to APA law students in the Mid-Atlantic area and APA attorneys licensed in Maryland.

Craig Holden, President and COO of Ober|Kaler said that “Paul is to be commended for his exemplary commitment to public service and legal professionalism.”

Representing health care providers, manufacturers, and researchers, Mr. Kim advises clients in all aspects of health law from corporate compliance to reimbursement issues. Last year, Nightingale’s Healthcare News named Mr. Kim, 36, among the nation’s fifteen “Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers.”

Mr. Kim is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (MPH, 2000), University of Maryland School of Law (JD, 1998), and Johns Hopkins University (BA, 1992). He is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and Maryland State Bar Association, and a frequent writer and lecturer on health care issues.
