Cable Fault Locator Uses TDR Technology

Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics ( has released this handheld cable fault locator which is ideally suitable for use in HFC systems and in such applications as electric wire and cable manufacturing. This rugged cable fault locator locates and reveals cable damage and terminal impedance failure. It also tests line breaks and short circuit faults in twisted-pair cables, data cables, high frequency cables and coaxial cables.
This portable cable fault locator, model 600, uses TDR technology to accurately pinpoint cable faults and provides an electronic map relevant to time domain. It tests 25ohm, 50ohm, 75ohm and 100ohm impedance cable. The handheld cable fault locator supports a test range of up to 2,000m for line short testing and 8,000m for line break testing. It offers a pulse width from 270ns to 5.6m and a wave range from 50m/s to 300m/s. The fault locator has a high definition backlit LCD screen, is highly automated, has a small test blind zone and offers a comparison test function.
