CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – LAWFUEL – Law News Network – According to a recent survey of general counsels in Fortune 250 companies conducted by Corporate Counsel magazine, McGuireWoods tied for third place among the top 14 law firms cited for their litigation practice. McGuireWoods was also listed in the magazine as one of the 18 firms that the general counsels used for overall legal services.
Corporate Counsel first conducted a survey four years ago on the law firms best known for litigation. The magazine said many of the firms that made the top 10 in their first survey again made the list in 2006. The magazine states that “size, skill, the strength of the brand name” were some of the factors that keep these firms on the short list of general counsels around the country.
“McGuireWoods has enjoyed a national reputation for litigation skills for several years,” said
R. Craig Wood, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Charlottesville office. “In addition to seeking the most effective ways to proceed in litigation, we focus on our client relationships overall. We are honored that clients have recognized McGuireWoods’ capabilities in the leading magazine for general counsels.”
The magazine states that general counsels prefer “brand name” legal firms when it comes to major and complicated matters. This is one reason why general counsels from corporations such as PepsiCo, Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. keep McGuireWoods on speed dial.
