MySpace GC Lin Cherry to Discuss Implications and Future of Social Media

NEW YORK (March 24, 2010) – Corporate Counsel magazine’s upcoming “Social Media: Risks and Rewards” conference will feature in-house legal speakers and panelists from corporations including American Express, Expedia, Inc., GE Capital, Intel Corporation, Mayo Clinic, Wal-Mart and Wells Fargo Bank. The event, which will take place April 19 at the Marines’ Memorial Club and Hotel in San Francisco, will also feature an interview discussion session with MySpace general counsel Cherry Lin. In the day’s final session, “MySpace: A Candid Conversation with General Counsel Cherry Lin,” Bay will interview Lin on how social media companies themselves view the future of the industry and emerging issues that will impact in-house counsel.

Lin oversees the company’s business and legal affairs in the U.S. and internationally including those relating to the recently launched MySpace Music. Lin’s responsibilities include managing a team of in house lawyers with broad expertise in media, technology, intellectual property, M&A, corporate and regulatory matters. Prior to joining News Corp.-owned MySpace, Lin served as general counsel for Tata Sky Limited, a joint venture formed by News Corp.’s Star Group and the Tata Group to provide DTH satellite television throughout India. Lin’s previous work included managing the legal aspects of launching and operating DTH satellite television services throughout Latin America for DirecTV Latin America. Lin graduated cum laude from George Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Florida. She is a member of the California Bar and the Florida Bar.
