August 22, 2017 – DLA Piper announced today that Christopher Oprison has joined the firm’s Litigation practice as a partner in Miami.
Oprison focuses his practice on the healthcare industry and represents clients on matters involving fraud, government and internal investigations, complex civil litigation and white collar defense. His extensive experience in government enforcement and internal investigations includes RICO and money laundering cases, as well as issues arising under the False Claims Act and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Oprison previously served as a special assistant and associate counsel to President George W. Bush from 2006 to 2008, and a Marine Corps prosecutor.
“Our healthcare clients face a complex regulatory and litigation environment, and they need very skilled counsel to navigate them through it,” said Loren Brown, US co-chair of DLA Piper’s Litigation practice. “Chris is immensely talented, and these clients will benefit greatly from his expertise in this area.”
During his 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors, Oprison has advised clients on a variety of legal, legislative and policy issues, including matters involving Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues. He has represented large US healthcare systems. airlines, oil and gas companies, insurers, wound care product manufacturers, national accounting firms, elected officials and lobbyists in a variety of criminal, civil and government enforcement matters.

Oprison is the most recent addition to DLA Piper’s Miami office in the past year, following partners George Karavetsos, Ryan O’Quinn, Omari Sealy, and Genève DuBois. Additionally, the firm’s Litigation practice has added partners throughout the US this year, including David Sager (New Jersey), John Rah (Washington, D.C.), Raphael Larson (Washington, D.C.), Thiru Vignarajah (Baltimore), andLouis Ramos (Washington, D.C.).
Oprison received his J.D., cum laude, from George Washington Law School and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
