NEW YORK (January 11, 2010) – Futurist and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell (Blink, The Tipping Point) and New York Times medical columnist Dr. Lisa Sanders will headline a blue-ribbon keynote panel on “The New Convergence of Intelligence, Intuition and Information” on February 3 at ALM’s upcoming LegalTech New York 2010. The panel will also include Thomson Reuters Chief Strategy Officer David Craig. The panel’s experts will discuss the role of advanced information systems in enabling and accelerating human decisions in high-risk decision-making environments, including law enforcement, health care and the sciences.
Malcolm Gladwell has been a staff writer with The New Yorker magazine since 1996. His 1999 profile of Ron Popeil won a National Magazine Award, and in 2005 he was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. He is the author of three books, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference (2000); Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking (2005); and Outliers: The Story of Success (2008) all of which were number-one New York Times bestsellers.
Lisa Sanders, M.D. is an assistant clinical professor at the Yale University School of Medicine and a clinician educator in Yale’s Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency program. Dr. Sanders writes the popular “Diagnosis” column, which appears monthly in The New York Times Magazine. Her column was the inspiration for the acclaimed Fox television show “House M.D.,” and she currently serves as technical advisor for the show.
David Craig, executive vice president and Chief Strategy Officer for Thomson Reuters, is responsible for corporate strategy across the company’s global business, as well as for innovation. He was jointly responsible for integration planning associated with The Thomson Corporation’s $17 billion Reuters acquisition. Craig previously was a partner at McKinsey, advising banks, technology and media companies on technology strategy. He has published several papers on technology and strategy, including IT as a Competitive Weapon and The M&A Approach to Outsourcing.
