Greenberg Traurig Receives Special Recognition for Service to the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network
ATLANTA (Dec. 28, 2011) — The Atlanta office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP received a Special Recognition for Service award by the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN) for its continued support and involvement with the organization this past year. Emily Z. Culbertson, an associate in the Securities Litigation practice in Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta office and GAIN board member, accepted the award on the firm’s behalf at GAIN’s awards luncheon on December 8th.
“We are very honored to receive this award,” said Ernest Greer, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office and co-chair of the Atlanta Litigation practice. “As a firm, we are committed to furthering our support of GAIN and its efforts throughout the state, as well as volunteering our time to those in need of representation.”
“I am gratified that Greenberg Traurig has supported GAIN’s mission of serving some of the most vulnerable people in our society — immigrant victims of human trafficking, victims of domestic violence, asylum applicants and others,” said Culbertson. “GAIN has grown over the last few years, and I look forward to its continued growth so that the staff and volunteer attorneys can offer more help and assistance to those in need.”
GAIN recognized Greenberg Traurig for hosting a fundraiser earlier in the year that included a panel discussion and special showing of Redlight, a documentary about human trafficking that follows the personal stories of several Cambodian children who are current or former sex slaves. GAIN also recognized the firm’s increase in pro bono support and its sponsorship of GAIN’s 2010-2012 Equal Justice Works Fellow, funded by the Greenberg Traurig’s Fellowship Foundation. The Foundation provides critical legal services to underserved communities throughout the United States.
“We’re humbled to be recognized by GAIN for our pro bono work. This reinforces our firm’s commitment to providing vital pro bono legal services and helps other attorneys get involved,” said Holly Skolnick, president and founder of the Greenberg Traurig Fellowship Foundation. “We look forward to future opportunities with GAIN.”
