Three senior appointments strengthen reputation as a leading independent litigation and dispute resolution law firm in Asia –
Hong Kong-based dispute resolution and litigation specialist law firm Gall is pleased to announce three senior appointments, further confirming its reputation as a leading independent dispute resolution firm in Asia.
The appointments are as follows: partner Jennifer Van Dale from Baker & McKenzie, partner Michael Withington from Herbert Smith Freehills and registered foreign lawyer Caroline McNally from Farrer & Co. in London. Together they take the firm’s headcount to 17 lawyers.
Traditionally focused on commercial litigation and dispute resolution, the appointments significantly enhance the firm’s non-contentious employment, professional negligence and shareholder dispute capabilities as well as launching a matrimonial law offering to clients.
Employment – Jennifer Van Dale
Partner Jennifer Van Dale joins from Baker & McKenzie where she headed the firm’s Hong Kong employment practice. Jennifer is hugely well respected and widely regarded as one of Hong Kong and the region’s leading employment lawyers. She is top ranked by the leading independent directories and is described by clients as ‘a fantastic lawyer’ (Asia Pacific Legal 500, 2013) and “ten out of ten for her” (Chambers Asia, 2013).
Jennifer’s depth of knowledge in the non-contentious field perfectly compliments the firm’s contentious practice.
Dispute Resolution – Michael Withington
Michael Withington joined the firm as a partner from Herbert Smith Freehills. He has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including contentious employment, professional negligence claims and shareholder disputes. Michael is recognised by Chambers both for his employment work and contentious insurance work in Hong Kong and by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 for dispute resolution, employment and restructuring & insolvency.
Michael is noted for his clear advice, responsiveness and good judgment. Clients comment that he resolves disputes by “thinking outside the box” (Chambers Asia, 2013).
Matrimonial – Caroline McNally
Gall has added to its practice areas with the appointment of Caroline McNally as head of the newly formed matrimonial team. Caroline joins from Farrer & Co in London.
Caroline has 15 years experience advising on all aspects of family breakdown including divorce, financial settlements, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and children matters. She has worked alongside the UK’s leading family law solicitors and barristers and has particular experience in complex matrimonial finance cases.
Senior Partner Nick Gall says:
‘Our strategy has been to grow the firm by appointing the very best lawyers at every level. Jennifer, Michael and Caroline add significant strength and depth to the practice and endorse our reputation as Hong Kong’s leading independent dispute resolution firm”.
