Jacksonville, FL – LAWFUEL – Law Newswire – Today U.S. District Judge Virginia Hernandez Covington sentenced James Vernon Crosby, the former Secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections to eight (8) years’ imprisonment for accepting approximately $135,000 in
kickbacks related to the execution of a state contract.

Tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Allen Clark, the former Regional Director of the Florida Department of Corrections, will be
sentenced by Judge Covington. Crosby and Clark pleaded guilty in July 2006 to accepting approximately $135,000 from another person, intending to be influenced or
rewarded in connection with official business of the Florida Department of Corrections.

This matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Attorney’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the Florida Attorney General Office of Statewide Prosecution. This case is being
prosecuted by Acting United States Attorney James R. Klindt and Assistant United States Attorney Donald J. Pashayan.
