Dallas, May 22, 2008 – LAWFUEL – Legal Announcements – Talmage Boston, Dallas shareholder for Texas law firm Winstead PC, has been elected to the Texas State Bar Board of Directors. Members of the board of directors are elected from 17 districts throughout the state and serve staggered three year terms. Statewide elections were held during the month of April and the results were announced this month.
The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that is responsible for oversight of the 80,000-member Bar, and specifically provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
Boston is past chairperson of the State Bar’s 7,300 member Litigation Section and its Council of Chairs and for his substantial contributions, received the State Bar’s Presidential Citation Award in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Boston is also past chairperson of the Business Litigation Section of the Dallas Bar Association. During the past ten years, Boston has been a much sought-after speaker at State Bar and Dallas Bar Association litigation seminars, addressing the subjects of electronic evidence, summary judgment practice, “Dos and Don’ts in the Courtroom,” arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
Boston has been named a “Texas Super Lawyer” in Texas Monthly Magazine every year since that recognition program was started in 2003 based on his 29 years of business litigation experience. He has tried jury cases and argued appeals all over Texas in both state and federal courts, and has appeared as counsel of record in 20 published opinions. He’s one of only 100 lawyers in Texas board certified in both Civil Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Boston also devotes a portion of his practice to serving as a mediator. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Texas, where he graduated Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
