LawFuel – See ‘Hot Gossip’ – Beyoncé is involved in a copyright dispute over her latest album, with allegations that she recorded a song without permission.
The artist recorded “Still in Love (Kissing You),” which was originally recorded by British singer Des’ree under the title “I’m Kissing You.”
Des’ree filed a lawsuit in Manhattan last Wednesday, alleging Knowles never obtained proper clearance to use her song “Kissing You.”
As a result, Knowles’ record label bosses have agreed to temporarily halt distribution of the CDs that include the track, reports MTV.
Des’ree’s lawyers evidently placed a counter proposal to the Beyonce legal team in which they granted permission to use the song within certain limits. These included the specification that they could not use the song in video form and that the title of the song would not be changed.
