Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Possession of a Firearm in San Carlos, Arizona

PHOENIX Ariz. (Lawfuel) – Victor Allen Amos, 52, of San Carlos, Arizona was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton to 15 years in a federal prison. Amos pleaded guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm which occurred on the San Carlos Indian Reservation.

Judge Bolton sentenced Amos under the Armed Career Criminal Act, which requires a fifteen year minimum sentence when a felon in possession of a firearm has three qualifying prior felony convictions for either crimes of violence or drug trafficking offenses.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the San Carlos Apache Tribal Police Department, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution was handled by the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
