Michael Rennock joins Steptoe’s New York office in Corporate, Securities and Finance Group

February 8, 2007, New York City – LAWFUEL – Steptoe & Johnson LLP, a leading international law firm, announces the addition of Michael J.W. Rennock as a partner in its New York City office in the Corporate, Securities and Finance Group, effective immediately.

Mr. Rennock was formerly a partner in the New York office of Winston & Strawn LLP, where he concentrated his practice in the areas of securities, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and other general corporate matters. Before joining Winston & Strawn, Mr. Rennock was a partner in the New York office of Morrison & Foerster.

“Michael is a very welcome addition to our office,” said Greg R. Yates, a corporate partner in Steptoe’s NYC office. ”He will strengthen Steptoe & Johnson’s capacity to provide legal services and counsel on securities and corporate matters to its business, investment bank, hedge fund and private equity clients.”

Mr. Rennock has represented public and private companies, as well as strategic and venture capital investors, in a variety of financial transactions. His clients span diverse industries and sectors, including heath care, child care, energy, banking, internet services, biotechnology, telecommunications, and electronic data transmission.

An avid runner and veteran of a dozen marathons, Mr. Rennock is enthusiastic about the road ahead at Steptoe. “I view this as a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing office with tremendous potential for future growth,” he said. “Steptoe has an impeccable reputation that I find attractive. I am looking forward to developing a corporate practice in New York that enhances and expands the firm’s already strong international corporate practice profile.”

Mr. Rennock earned his J.D. degree from Duke University in 1985, and his B.A. from Harvard University in 1981. He is a member of NY City Bar Association Committee to Enhance Diversity in the Profession, the Central Park Track Club (Executive Committee) and the New York Road Runners Club. Mr. Rennock has published articles in professional law publications on such topics as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the IPO process.
