The temperature was brewed at extremely high temperatures. The case received sensational media treatment and the woman who claimed the damages in a trial that revealed that McDonalds had over 700 previous complaints about burns from hot beverages.
The jury awarded Ms Liebeck $160,000 in compensatory damages and $2.7 million in punitive damages
