New York, December 19, 2006 – LAWFUEL – Legal News, Legal Jobs – Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP is pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2007, Daniel S. Ruzumna will become a partner of the firm and Andrew P. Beame and Stuart E. Pollack will become counsel to the firm.
Daniel S. Ruzumna concentrates his practice on defending clients involved in white collar criminal investigations and related regulatory proceedings, conducting internal corporate investigations and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Ruzumna has extensive trial and appellate experience. He served for six years in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he investigated and prosecuted white collar criminal cases involving bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, health care fraud, securities fraud and money laundering. Mr. Ruzumna also prosecuted individuals involved in organized crime and brought civil and criminal asset forfeiture actions. In 2004, Mr. Ruzumna received the Department of Justice’s John Marshall Award for Asset Forfeiture, the Department’s highest honor in that practice area. He served as lead prosecutor in 12 jury trials and argued numerous civil and criminal cases before the Second Circuit. Mr. Ruzumna finished his tenure at the United States Attorney’s Office as the Acting Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, a unit devoted to investigating and prosecuting white collar criminal cases. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan, with high distinction.
Andrew P. Beame concentrates in corporate transactional matters, primarily focusing on private equity, venture capital financing and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Beame represents a wide variety of clients ranging from emerging growth and public companies to private equity investment firms. Mr. Beame’s recent transactions include representing a spirits company in its initial public offering, representing private equity firms in acquisitions in the cosmetics, food products and biotechnology industries and representing a large multinational corporation with a strategic investment in a private company. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Stuart E. Pollack focuses his practice on patent litigation. He also is active in patent prosecution and patent counseling and opinion work. Dr. Pollack has helped obtain favorable judgments in several suits on behalf of pioneer drug companies, including suits brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act against potential generic entrants. His work has focused on pharmaceutical products and drug substances, polymers, optics, and chemical reactors, and he has also worked on cases involving mechanical inventions. He has successfully represented companies in suits at the International Trade Commission. He has also helped obtain patents for his clients in pharmaceutical and chemical technology at the Patent and Trademark Office. Dr. Pollack received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, his PhD. (Physical Chemistry) and M.S. from Northwestern University, and his B.S. from the University of Rochester.
