Ogier receives another endorsement at prestigious legal awards ceremony
Ogier has been named “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” by The Lawyer at its annual awards ceremony, held last night (26th June), at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Ogier were chosen from five other short-listed firms to claim the accolade which acknowledged the specialist nature of the work undertaken by Ogier in the increasing number of jurisdictions it now operates.
The completion of the merger with BVI-based WSmiths, and the firm’s consequent growth into the Asian market, were mentioned as key developments for the firm, which now employs more than 600 staff in nine locations.
The “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” award was collected by Simon Schilder, an Ogier BVI partner.
The nominated firms were selected from hundreds of entries by an advisory panel of external judges made up of some of the biggest names in the City, together with the editorial team at The Lawyer, one of the UK’s leading legal publications.
Judges were looking for evidence of strategic clarity, technical legal excellence and quality control, growth in market share, and the context of the firm’s progression within the jurisdictions they operate.
Chairman of Ogier, Jonathan White, said: ‘The last 18 months have been pivotal for the Group, both in terms of the level of growth we have experienced and the recognition we have received through awards from professional bodies such as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and publications such as Chambers, and Legal Week. To now earn The Lawyer’s “Offshore Law Firm of the Year Award” is an accolade of which we are immensely proud and it is a credit to the quality and expertise of all Ogier staff across the Group.’
