Brian C. Miner Joins Firm’s Philadelphia Office
April 26, 2010, Philadelphia – LawFuel.com – Reed Smith LLP continues to expand its Corporate & Securities Group with the addition of partner Brian C. Miner, who joined today in the firm’s Philadelphia office.
Mr. Miner was formerly a partner in the Philadelphia office of Morgan Lewis, where he was a member of that firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities practice groups, as well as a co-leader of its Infrastructure Mergers & Acquisitions initiative. With his move to Reed Smith, Mr. Miner joins a seasoned group of corporate and transactional lawyers in Philadelphia, including former partner Howard Shecter, who recently joined the firm as Senior M&A Partner.
“Among the many benefits of our global platform is that Reed Smith attracts and retains quality lawyers like Brian,” said Paul J. Jaskot, Deputy Practice Group leader of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Group. “Brian is an energetic, experienced business attorney who will fit in well at Reed Smith, where the firm culture is committed to finding practical and effective solutions to our clients’ business and legal issues.”
Mr. Miner’s practice encompasses a wide range of sophisticated business law matters, focusing on cross-border and domestic private equity transactional matters, and merger and acquisition and joint venture transactions involving public and private companies. His private equity practice focuses on acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and co-investment transactions. In addition, he represents issuers, underwriters and purchasers in public and private equity and debt offerings.
“Reed Smith’s international platform, especially having more than 300 lawyers in the UK, was a huge draw for me because I represent private equity funds and other clients with global operations,” Mr. Miner said. “I am looking forward to being part of a firm that is forward-thinking and is continuing to grow and expand its corporate capabilities around the globe.”
Mr. Miner’s experience extends to representing special board committees in evaluating transactions, and investment banks in rendering fairness opinions. He also advises corporations on takeover defensive strategies, including shareholder rights plans and the adoption of special charter and by-law provisions.
“In Philadelphia, Reed Smith maintains a dual focus on providing clients with the benefits of the firm’s expansive international reach to achieve their business goals, but at the same time, the firm maintains a strong local-practice focus serving the many multi-national and regional companies located in the greater Delaware Valley area,” said Ajay Raju, Office Managing Partner of Reed Smith’s Philadelphia office. “We’re glad to have a lawyer of Brian’s caliber join us.”
Mr. Miner received his J.D. from Georgia State University in 1997 and his B.S. from Wake Forest University in 1994.
