Published on January 31, 2007, in both the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the San Francisco Daily Journal, the annual list profiles the top up-and-coming lawyers in California. Hundreds of peer nominations were considered by Daily Journal editors and reporters, but only twenty young men and women were selected for the honor, which the Daily Journal Corporation bestows only once in an individual’s career. The Daily Journal Corporation is the nation’s oldest and largest daily legal newspaper in the country.

Avenatti, age 35, who recently played an instrumental role in resolving an accounting malpractice lawsuit brought against KPMG LLP and an idea theft lawsuit brought against reality TV producer Mark Burnett. “My passion is the law and I truly relish working with my clients to see to it that justice is served.”

Michael Avenatti, age 35, is a plaintiffs’ trial lawyer, and his practice focuses on business litigation, legal and accounting malpractice, and catastrophic personal injury. He has been involved in many significant and high-profile legal matters throughout his professional career. He advises business litigants and boards of directors in complex cases involving damages of more than $50 million and presently manages numerous lawsuits involving damages in excess of $20 million.
In June 2006, Michael Avenatti was selected by Lawdragon.com as one of 500 “New Stars, New Worlds” lawyers in the United States (out of 1.1 million) carrying the legal profession to new frontiers. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Michael was named as a “Rising Star” in the Law & Politics issues of Southern California Rising Stars Magazine/Los Angeles Magazine, which lists the top 2.5 percent of noteworthy attorneys in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. A native of Sacramento, CA, Michael grew up in St. Louis, MO. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania; and graduated from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., first in his class with high honors.
