The international law firm Clifford Chance advised French media group, Lagardère, on the acquisition of Sportfive. The enterprise value is EUR 865 million and the vendors are the private equity houses, Advent International and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, RTL and the management, which purchased Sportfive in 2004.
The transaction is still subject to approval from the relevant competition authorities.
Sportfive is one of the leading sporting rights distributors in Europe and the agency will be the exclusive distributor of European television rights to the 2008 European Football Championship. The Sportfive Group is based in Hamburg and Paris.
