26 September 2011 – The rumors that Facebook would charge a membership fee have been dismissed by the social network, now under attack from Google’s Plus One social media platform. Facebook have said in a statement that there will be no Facebook membership fee.
Facebook, who have faced some serious privacy law issues also, particularly with recent revelations that Facebook are able to track every page visited by members even when they have left the network.
The UK government and other governments are now looking at what Facebook is doing with customer information and other privacy issues are now at the forefront of many concerned with internet privacy issues.
But the Facebook membership fee issue – for now at least – appears dead.
