Kidman’s publicist, Wendy Day, yesterday denied a report in the London Daily Mail about a pre-nuptial agreement the couple supposedly signed.
In the event of a break-up, it said, the country singer would get £350,000 ($870,000) for every year he was with the actress, who BRW magazine says is worth about $200 million.
But Urban, a former cocaine abuser, would get nothing if he returned to illegal drugs or alcohol, the report said.
It also claimed Kidman and Urban would have joint custody of any children they had together, as long as they stayed in the same country as Kidman.
Ms Day said yesterday the report was false and a legal letter would be sent to the Mail. She warned media not to repeat it.
Kidman walked away with a reported $90 million as a divorce settlement from her first husband, the actor Tom Cruise. They split in 2000 after almost 10 years of marriage. Since then, Kidman has fiercely defended her privacy – and that of her two children, Connor and Isabella, and has begged media to leave her alone.
But not in the past week, even while some media were getting it wrong. There was the matter of the venue for the wedding reception. While it went ahead last night, in a tent next to the chapel on the St Patrick’s Estate at Manly, a persistent male caller last week tried to put media on the scent of the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Point Piper.
