Tuesday 28 November 2006 LAWFUEL – Law News Network – Former media relations consultant to Aristocrat Leisure Limited (Aristocrat), Ms Margot Olive McKay, pleaded guilty and was committed today in the Downing Centre Local Court to three criminal charges of insider trading following an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
These charges follow a referral to ASIC from Aristocrat and relate to Ms McKay procuring others to trade in the company’s shares in August and October 2004 prior to major media announcements to the market. Ms McKay, of Sydney, New South Wales, was the principal of Margot McKay and Associates and provided consultancy services to Aristocrat between July 2003 and December 2004. Ms McKay has cooperated with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission during its investigations. The matter has been adjourned until 2 February 2007 for arraignment in the Supreme Court.
