UNC Secures Dismissal of Former Student-Athletes Class Action

Skadden won the dismissal of a class action complaint filed against The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill by former student-athletes who allege that the university breached its contract with student-athletes because they were purportedly denied a high-quality education and directed to low-quality courses while attending UNC.

On February 19, Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge Robert C. Ervin dismissed the case with prejudice based on sovereign immunity, statute of limitations grounds, standing, and merits inadequacies.
