Winston-Salem (May 4) — Kilpatrick Stockton today announces the appointment of Partner Steve Gardner as Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Mr. Gardner will serve a one-year term beginning in June. This honor comes as a transition from serving on various committees over the years, the IP Section Council, and as secretary, treasurer, and most recently vice chair.
Mr. Gardner helps clients with their intellectual property and technology-related legal needs, including related litigation, counseling, agreements, and applications. He is a registered patent attorney with litigation and prosecution experience in a wide range of technology areas. The clients with which he works range from Fortune 10 to start-up companies.
Mr. Gardner is an avid speaker on patent litigation, patent prosecution, and other topics and has spoken at seminars in Palo Alto, Washington, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem. Mr. Gardner has published over 40 articles on patent law, trademark law, litigation, and other topics in various publications, including the Wake Forest Law Review, Florida State Law Review, ABA Intellectual Property Newsletter, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, and The Business Journal. He currently serves as a editor in chief of the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Litigation Newsletter.
Mr. Gardner earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Beta Pi distinction. He earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University, with honors, where he was editor in chief of the law review.
