Government Affairs Counsel Michael Jewell Moves to Haynes and Boone Austin

AUSTIN – – Attorney Newswire – Michael Jewell, a lawyer involved in Texas government and public policy for more than 25 years, has been named to a new government affairs counsel position with the Haynes and Boone, LLP Austin office.
Mr. Jewell will help shape and advocate the public policy positions of Haynes and Boone clients with state legislators, key executive officials and state regulatory agencies.

Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Mr. Jewell served Reliant Energy and RRI Energy as a director of Texas government and regulatory affairs. Before that, he served as Direct Energy’s vice president of Texas government affairs.
During his career Mr. Jewell also has held posts with AT&T and has served in the administration of Governor George W. Bush as a liaison to the Texas legislature on issues relating to public utilities, administrative law, tort reform, natural resources and criminal justice.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Michael attended the University of Texas at Austin for both his undergraduate and law school education.
