The death of comedian Robin Williams, from apparent suicide, has prompted an investigation by the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office who are expected to complete a comprehensive investigation into a death that has shocked Williams’ fans and the movie community.
Williams, who starred in numerous hit movies such as “Mrs Doubtfire” and “Good Morning Vietnam” and the series “The Crazy Ones,” was 63 and had recently finished on the third installment of the movie series “Night at the Museum.”
His death is believed to be from asphyxia. He was found unconscious Monday afternoon at about 12:00 p.m. inside his residence in Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10 pm on Sunday.
Less than 2 weeks ago, the trailer for the “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” hit the web. Ben Stiller and Williams reunite for the franchise’s third film, which is due out December 19, News13 report.
An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office, officials said.
A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.
On July 1, Williams visited the 12-step program at a Minnesota facility to recharge after more than 18 straight months of work, according to his publicist.
Mara Buxbaum said Williams was “taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud.”
