14 July, 2004 – LAWFUEL – Herbert Smith have acted for George Davies on the sale of the Per Una business and brand to Marks & Spencer for £125 million.

The deal forms part of the review being led by new Marks & Spencer chief
executive Stuart Rose, which was announced on 12 July.

The agreement is conditional on, among other things, there having been no change of control of Marks & Spencer.

The Herbert Smith team was led by partner Richard Lewis assisted by Alastair Duncan, with tax advice provided by partner Heather Gething and Lindsay J’Afari-Pak. The Slaughter and May team acting for Marks & Spencer was led by partner Richard de Carle assisted by Laura Carley, with tax advice provided by Tony Beare assisted by Paul Fahy.
