2 May – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Gide Loyrette Nouel, France’s largest independent international law firm, announced today that two highly regarded international finance lawyers, Marianne Rosenberg and Robert C. MacDonald, are to join the firm’s New York office. .The announcement fulfils Gide’s key strategic objective to bridge civil and common law jurisdictions internationally, providing its clients with integrated access to global financial markets.

Rosenberg comes to Gide from Thelen Reid & Priest’s New York office with notable experience advising leading US and international clients in areas involving cross-border finance. MacDonald joins Gide from the New York office of Hunton & Williams, where he focused on tax and transactional aspects of debt finance, private equity finance and cross-border transactional work.

Marianne Rosenberg

Marianne Rosenberg’s practice focuses on asset-based finance with a special emphasis on cross-border leasing and project finance. Rosenberg has been widely recognized by business and trade journals for her work, and was named by Airfinance Journal as one of the 50 Airfinance industry “market shapers” over the past two decades, one of only four lawyers worldwide to be so named.

Rosenberg spent 18 years at White & Case New York (11 years as a partner) where she was Co-Head of the Equipment and Facility Finance Group, and 5 years at Linklaters New York where she was Managing Partner of the New York office and Co-Head of the Global Asset Finance Group. In 2003 she moved to Thelen Reid & Priest in New York to lead the firm’s internationalization effort. She is a member of the New York State Bar. Although born and raised in New York, Marianne is also a native French speaker with both French and US law degrees.

Rosenberg is a member of the Association des Lauréats du Concours General and the Board of Advisors of the Institute of Law and Economics, a joint research and conference center of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania Department of Economics. She has been recognized for her outstanding work in the area of community investment.

Rob MacDonald

Rob MacDonald’s experience covers nearly the entire range of debt finance, including structured finance, project finance, conventional and non-conventional corporate debt, securitization, syndicated lending and derivatives. His expertise also encompasses cross-border transactions, private equity finance, REITs, investment partnerships and joint ventures.

MacDonald is a leading tax partner at Hunton & Williams, where he started his career 19 years ago and where he has been a partner for 11 years. He is a member of Hunton & Williams’ Tax Team and Co-Head of the Derivatives Practice Group. MacDonald is a member of the New York, District of Columbia and Virginia Bars, and is admitted to practice before the US Tax Court.

MacDonald is a member of the ABA Sections on Taxation and International Law, a former Chair of the ABA Tax Section’s Financial Transactions Committee, and a former Chair of its Asset Securitization Subcommittee, as well as a member of the ISDA Tax Committee
