28 July 2004 Read today’s legal news, law firm announcements & legal articles at LAWFUELAnthony Salz, co-senior partner of international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for a four-year term commencing on 1 August 2004.

Commenting on the appointment, BBC Chairman Michael Grade said: ‘I greatly welcome Anthony Salz’s appointment and look forward to working with him. Anthony is among the most respected lawyers in British corporate life and will bring a wealth of experience to the BBC Board table. He is well qualified for the role of Vice-Chairman.’

This is a part time appointment and Mr Salz will continue with his client and management responsibilities at Freshfields.

Notes for editors

Anthony Salz has been a solicitor since 1974, joining Freshfields in 1975. He was head of the corporate finance practice (1990-1994) and head of the firm’s corporate department (1994-1996). He was appointed senior partner of Freshfields in 1996 and upon the merger with Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Löber in 2000 became co-senior partner. His term was renewed in 2004. His work has included several projects in the broadcasting sector, including the merger of BSB with Sky.
