28 October 2004 LAWFUEL – Law firm, law, legal, attorney news Allen & Overy has appointed renowned antitrust lawyer, Professor Dr Hermann-Josef Bunte, as ‘of counsel’ in its Hamburg office. Professor Bunte will join the practice on 1 November 2004.
Until mid-2001, he taught private and commercial law at the Universität der Bundeswehr in Hamburg. During that time, he [advised] on major antitrust proceedings, including the procedure to obtain ministerial approval in connection with the E.ON/Ruhrgas merger. He has been acting as competition counsel in private practice in Hamburg since 2001, with clients mainly in the insurance and financial services and energy sectors.
Professor Bunte has also been editor and co-author of “Langen/Bunte”, one of the leading German antitrust law commentaries for over ten years. The tenth edition will soon be published. He is also co-editor of “Bankrechtshandbuch” and regularly lectures on current antitrust issues.
“In addition to my work as a scholar, my advisory practice has expanded steadily,” comments Professor Bunte. “Joining Allen & Overy’s German antitrust group will allow me to further meet my clients’ growing need for increasingly international legal advice.”
