Amy Solomon newest addition to Albany office of McKenna Long & Aldridge

ALBANY, NEW YORK – LAWFUEL – Legal News, Legal Jobs Network – McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP announced today that Amy G. Solomon, who currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Intergovernmental Relations Bureau for New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, will join the firm in December as a managing director in the Albany office. Ms. Solomon will leave the attorney general’s office at the end of November.

In her current position, which she has held since February 1999, Ms. Solomon serves as the liaison with government officials, government affairs professionals, and communities throughout upstate New York. She advises the attorney general on many issues, particularly those affecting the business and agriculture communities, educators and law enforcement organizations.

Ms. Solomon is a long-respected figure in New York Democratic politics. Prior to joining the attorney general’s office, she was an assistant to the majority leader in the New York State Assembly and legislative director for a New York state senator from 1979 to 1995. In January 1995, Ms. Solomon was appointed chief of staff to the Senate Democratic Conference. As chief administrator of the conference, she was integral in the development and implementation of legislative programs, and she provided strategic counsel to the minority leader and conference members on matters pertaining to policy and communication strategies.

Ms. Solomon is a board member of the Empire State Plaza Arts Commission and the Ladies Golf Day Committee for the American Cancer Society. She served as President of the Sisterhood of Congregation Ohav Shalom and as a member of the Board of Trustees. Other memberships include the Auxiliary of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, U.T.O.S. Abigail and Hadassah and Board Member of the ALS Center at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Ms. Solomon is the newest addition to the firm’s Government Affairs practice that includes former U.S. Senator Zell Miller; former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Gordon Giffin; Keith Mason and Marcia Hale who both served in the Clinton White House; Eric Tanenblatt who served as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue and senior advisor to the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell; former Congressman Buddy Darden; and the New York government affairs team led by William F. Plunkett, Jr, and recently joined by Richard Gordon, former advisor to U.S. Senator Evan Bayh and Governor Mario Cuomo.
