LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Perth lawyers should shut up and let police get on with catching the killer of Supreme Court registrar Corryn Rayney, Western Australia’s Attorney General Jim McGinty says.
Members of Perth’s small legal circle have publicly criticised police in the wake of a decision by detectives last week to name prominent lawyer Lloyd Rayney the prime suspect in the murder of his estranged wife.
Ms Rayney disappeared after a bootscooting class on August 7. Her body was found in a bush grave in Perth’s Kings Park on August 16.
Police said that despite there being no evidence against Rayney, the former senior prosecutor was their only suspect because evidence suggested she was most likely murdered at the couple’s Como home.
Rayney, who appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today on an unrelated charge of bugging Ms Rayney’s phone, denies any involvement in the death of his estranged wife, with whom he shared a house, along with their two daughters.
