LA Legal – Law Firm Adds New Attorneys To Los Angeles Office – Goodwin Procter

LOS ANGELES October 9, 2007 — Goodwin Procter LLP, one of the nation’s leading law firms with more than 850 attorneys, today announced the expansion of its Century City and Downtown Los Angeles offices with six new associates joining the firm and the addition of Litigation Partner, Brooks Brown, from the firm’s Boston office.

Brooks R. Brown, formerly based in Goodwin Procter’s Boston office, has joined the Century City office as a partner in the firm’s litigation department. Brown specializes in general civil litigation with a particular emphasis on defending financial institutions in consumer financial services class actions. He also focuses on land use litigation as well as internal and government investigations. As a member of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice, Brown has defended a variety of putative nationwide class actions arising under the Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), state unfair and deceptive trade practices acts, and other consumer lending statutes and regulations. He also has represented a number of leading financial and other institutions in commercial disputes.

The new associates are:
• Ben Shapiro (Century City – Real Estate) holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in political science from University of California at Los Angeles graduating summa cum laude. Shapiro has joined Goodwin Procter’s Century City office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate Group.
• Jessica Gill (Century City – Real Estate) holds a J.D. from University of California, Davis School of Law and a B.A. in literature in English from the University of California, San Diego. Gill has joined Goodwin Procter’s Century City office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate Group.
• Julie Huebner (Century City – Real Estate) received her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School and a M.A. in English at King’s College London. Huebner earned a B.A. in English with a minor in political science from the University of California, graduating cum laude. She has joined Goodwin Procter’s Century City office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate Group.
• Jennifer Sung (Downtown LA – Real Estate) received a J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. in psychology from University of California, Los Angeles. Sung has joined Goodwin Procter’s Downtown LA office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate Group.
• Susan Morningstern (Downtown LA – Real Estate) holds a J.D. from Cornell Law School. Morningstern earned her M.A. in occupational therapy from University of Southern California and a B.S. in exercise physiology from Rutgers College. She has joined Goodwin Procter’s Downtown LA office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Real Estate Group.
• Kathryn Herman (Century City – Corporate) holds a J.D. from Northwestern University Law School. Ms. Herman received her Maîtrise degree with honors from the Université de Nantes and a B.A. in history and French with honors from Vassar College. Ms. Herman has joined Goodwin Procter’s Century City office as an associate in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of the Corporate Practice.
