HOUSTON– LAWFUEL – Legal Announcements –Paul Kellogg, an associate with Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P. (HWA), has been inducted into the College of the State Bar of Texas (College). The College is an honorary society that recognizes lawyers who maintain and enhance their professional skills and the quality of their services through a significant level of voluntary participation in continuing legal education.
To become a member of the College, a qualifying lawyer must complete either 80 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) over three or fewer calendar years or 45 hours of CLE in the prior or current calendar year. This requirement is double the CLE credits required by the State Bar of Texas. Between 800 and 1,200 attorneys are inducted into the College every year. Only about 5 percent of all attorneys practicing in Texas are members, with total membership in the College ranging from 4,100 to 4,300 in a year.
Kellogg joined HWA in 2001. He has focused his practice on consumer and commercial financial services (including auto and retail credit, identity fraud, and privacy issues), regulatory compliance, mortgage lending and compliance, fundamental issues facing small- and medium-sized businesses, and the formation of business entities.
