Pip England

LawFuel Power List 2025

No. 30

England became Chief Executive Partner in February 2021, succeeding Nick Wells after 28 years with the firm (partner since 2001, Auckland corporate practice leader for a decade). Chapman Tripp was named NZ Law Firm of the Year at 2024 KangaNews Awards (ninth consecutive win) and won the 2024 IDC Future Enterprise Award (Best in Future of Work, Asia-Pacific).

With ~56 partners, 400 staff, revenues exceeding $100 million, and more top-tier rankings than any other firm (Legal 500, IFLR 1000), Chapman Tripp dominates. Despite losing three Christchurch partners to Anderson Lloyd in a blow to their South Island presence, England maintained “changing within professional teams is natural.”

The firm advised on Project Finance Deal of the Year and Mid-Market Deal of the Year (2024 NZ Law Awards), maintaining Band 1 Chambers ranking (corporate/commercial). At No. 30, England’s power stems from leading NZ’s premier legal powerhouse through market dominance and digital transformation.
