  • Announcement signals strong financial growth, valuing the company at $400 million NZD
  • Employee headcount reaches 100 in New Zealand with plans to hire more globally
  • ClauseBase becomes LawVu Draft, accompanied by launch of LawVu Lens to provide comprehensive AI-powered legal workspace

Tauranga, New Zealand — 18 December, 2025 — LawVu, the leading global legal workspace for in-house legal teams, today announced the acquisition of ClauseBase, a pioneer in intelligent contract review, drafting, and automation, which will be rebranded to LawVu Draft.

Also announced is the launch of LawVu Lens, an AI-powered contract analysis engine built directly into the LawVu platform.

Together, these two major milestones value LawVu at $400 million NZD, deepening its commitment to redefining corporate legal technology with integrated AI.

With a continued focus on scaling internationally, the announcement follows significant growth for the company, achieving over 50% growth globally, with the US and UK being the highest growth markets.

While the legal industry continues to rely on disconnected, single-function tech solutions, LawVu embeds AI across all legal workflows – including intake, matter, contract, document and spend – managed in a single secure workspace, eliminating the need for multiple tools, and enabling total visibility, reduced administration and effortless collaboration.

LawVu’s latest expansion enables rapid AI adoption and usability for in-house teams at a fraction of the cost and complexity of managing multiple point solutions – while maintaining the highest standards of governance, security, and privacy.

Sam Kidd, CEO of LawVu said: “The acquisition of ClauseBase and the addition of LawVu Lens reinforces our vision for a more embedded, end-to-end approach to legal AI.”

“We’re empowering legal teams to accelerate deal cycles and proactively manage risk, while optimising external counsel spend — elevating the legal function to an essential strategic partner, and ultimately driving better business outcomes.”

Maarten Truyens, Founder and CEO of ClauseBase said: “ClauseBase was built to bring a much-needed efficiency and quality boost to contract drafting and reviewing work. By joining forces with LawVu, our software will be able to tap into the LawVu ecosystem, taking our initial mission to even greater heights and offering a solution that is unmatched in the legal market. We couldn’t be more excited for it!”

LawVu now has 160 employees globally, with 100 based in New Zealand across product, engineering and customer support teams, with Tauranga remaining as its headquarters. The acquisition is set to supercharge their next chapter, with all international growth plans positively impacting local operations.

LawVu’s customers are large enterprises turning over between $500m – $3.5 billion USD and requiring in-house legal teams rather than relying solely on traditional law firms.

Customer numbers have increased globally, trusted by the legal teams at world-leading enterprises such as Tennis Australia, AMP, AFL, Arsenal FC, Expedia, PwC, Estee Lauder, Discord, Employment Hero, and Etsy.

In New Zealand, the list includes KPMG, Meridian Energy, Sky TV, Tegel, The a2 Milk Co, and Foodstuffs, with the software allowing them to work smarter, faster, and deliver greater value to their organisations.

Kidd continues: “This is another milestone that demonstrates how homegrown startups like LawVu can successfully expand and find success on the world stage, proving that places like Tauranga can absolutely set the global standard.”

“Our continued growth overseas shows the world that New Zealand isn’t just a small market or test bed, we’re a launchpad for global tech success that can transform industries.”
