LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell today announced that it has reached an agreement with MSN to be the exclusive provider of content that powers the new “Locate a Lawyer” link on the MSN.com home page.
With more than 84 million unique users each month, MSN is the most popular site on the Internet (Nielsen/NetRatings, September 2003) and provides a comprehensive range of resources for its visitors. One of its most popular features is the “Find” section on the MSN.com home page, from which users enjoy one-click access to leading providers of information ranging from airline tickets to apartments for rent.
The newest addition to the section is a “Locate a Lawyer” link, which now transports visitors directly to lawyers.com, Martindale-Hubbell’s Web site for the general public and small business owners that features a database of more than 440,000 lawyers and law firms nationwide.
“Even though lawyers.com delivers twice the visitors of the next online legal directory, we did not stand still,” said Paul Gazzolo, chief operating officer of New Providence, N.J.-based Martindale-Hubbell. “By adding a link to lawyers.com from the MSN home page, Martindale-Hubbell subscribers will be connected with millions more potential clients in 2004.”
According to Gazzolo, the landmark deal is the latest in a series of strategic agreements between the two companies. Previous deals have included links to the lawyers.com database from various individual sections within the MSN site, such as Search, Yellow Pages, and Learning & Research.
In addition, LexisNexis announced last week that it would provide free legal research to users of Microsoft Office System. LexisNexis will provide a legal research option on Microsoft Corporation’s new Research Task Pane featured in Microsoft Office Word 2003, Microsoft Office Excel 2003, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003.
