A team of highly regarded business disputes lawyers in Australia — Matthew Critchley, Alicia Salvo, and Brendon Clarke — will join Jones Day as Partners in its Global Disputes Practice, based in the Firm’s Melbourne Office.

Jones Day has been serving clients in Australia since 1998 with a growing team of more than 100 lawyers spread across its four offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

At Jones Day, the three new partners join a team of more than 200 lawyers in the Global Disputes Practice, who are located in more than 25 business centers worldwide. The group serves clients in the most challenging jurisdictions around the world and in some of the highest-value disputes in those jurisdictions. The trio will collaborate with their Global Disputes colleagues to help clients successfully resolve disputes wherever they arise, whether through litigation, arbitration or some combination of the two.

Mr. Critchley is recognized as one of the leading commercial litigators in Melbourne and has represented clients in a wide range of major complex business disputes involving financial services, corporate governance, technology projects, insolvency matters and shareholder issues. He is well-respected for his strategic and commercially focused approach to commercial litigation and has led large teams of lawyers in high-profile, cross-border disputes. Mr. Critchley has been recognized as a leading commercial litigation and disputes resolution lawyer by Doyle’s Guide, Best Lawyers Peer Review and Legal 500. He earned his law degree from Flinders University.

Ms. Salvo is a commercial litigator with extensive experience representing clients in insolvency and banking litigation, including large-scale fraud, urgent injunctions, freezing orders and asset tracing investigations. She frequently advises insolvency practitioners, landlords, financiers, corporate boards and creditors in connection with high-stakes restructurings, debt recovery and formal insolvency arrangements. Ms. Salvo has been recognized as a leading commercial litigation and disputes resolution lawyer by Doyle’s GuideBest Lawyers in Australia, and Legal 500. She earned her law degree from the University of Melbourne.

Mr. Clarke advises clients in large-scale, complex disputes and regulatory investigations involving in-depth forensic investigation and analysis, with a particular focus on matters in the financial services and technology sectors. He has experience assisting major corporations with navigating some of their most significant regulatory exposures, including responses to investigations and enforcement actions by the ASIC, ACCC, Privacy Commissioner, AMCA, ATO and Revenue NSW. Mr. Clarke has been recognized for excellence by Legal 500 and Best Lawyers in Australia. He earned his law degree from Victoria University of Wellington.
