NZ Law – Chapman Tripp’s New Podcast Series

Chapmantripp podcasts

In what feels like the legal sector’s latest bid to colonise every available earbud, Chapman Tripp has dipped its toes into the podcast waters with The Special Conditions.

Because, of course, what New Zealand’s infrastructure industry really needed was yet another podcast.

Chapman Tripp have already dived into podcasting with The Aotearoa Circle (with Alana Lampitt), corporate governance and other areas.

Leading the charge in the new series are two partners Hamish Bolland, head of the firm’s Construction & Major Projects practice and co-leader of its Infrastructure Sector Group.

A former Allen & Overy Dubai projects lawyer, Bolland brings serious front-end firepower across project finance, procurement strategy and contract negotiation on everything from hospitals and airports to solar farms and Antarctic bases. He’s a consistently ranked leading construction practitioner.

Sam Holden mans the sharp end, specialising in high-value disputes such as variations, delays, terminations, defects under NZS 3910, FIDIC and alliance contracts, particularly in energy and major infrastructure. Recognised by Chambers and Doyles, he’s the advocate clients reach for when millions are at stake and things get contentious.

Together they promise practical, market-leading insights and real-world war stories for principals, contractors, consultants and funders.

Law firm podcasts, it must be said, are now borderline obligatory elsewhere. In the UK, Australia and US they’re a well-established marketing staple, with dozens of Am Law 100 firms and major international players producing regular series.

New Zealand is catching up fast, with several firms (including Minter Ellison, Dentons and others) already in the game. Chapman Tripp’s Sound Counsel stable is simply joining what has become the industry’s favourite new content treadmill.

Expect straight-talking analysis — just don’t expect it to be the last construction podcast you’ll ever hear.
